EXTRA! EXTRA! THE CASE FOR A SCHOOL BULLETIN

WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO GET THE NEWS AT BUSY, BUSY LINCOLN PARK? ZANYAH MAKOWIECKI SAYS THE ANSWER IS SIMPLE: A SCHOOL BULLETIN

June 17, 2021

I am new to this school so I am not quite sure how it has been for previous years, but this year, especially, it has been difficult to find out information on what I need to know.

For example, sports. At my old school I played many sports and I was excited to continue that tradition into this school, but I had trouble finding when practices started, where they were, and even rules such as the mask policy. I have also been interested in switching majors but I have only been able to find out information by word of mouth, which is rather difficult when everyone’s saying different things. I believe there is a simple solution.

If we were to put a school bulletin at the entrance of the school then everyone would know where to find their information. There could be a different one for every grade and it could be sponsored by the student council. If you wish to pin something on the board then you must run it by the student council, they will make sure it is appropriate and you can proceed with your post.

This could open many possibilities for everyone, especially new students. The board might make the transition for new students easier and we can even post a map of the school to help them navigate their way through the halls. With every problem there is a solution and this can solve many of the problems at once.

A school bulletin might even help the faculty with remembering announcements and what they are supposed to say. As I stated previously I am new to this school so I’m not sure how it has been done in previous years, but I know that this year there was no set time for announcements, I even went up to the office once and saw the faculty scrambling in order to write an announcement on a sticky note after it was told to her through the phone.

This system is not a bad one, but it could be improved. With a bulletin board all of the information is in one place and it would be just as easy, if not easier, to read the announcements off of a bulletin board than to read them off of multiple sticky notes, and if the students wish to get follow up information it is all right there.

This school is known for being fantastic all throughout the other school districts and even though everything is already so great here, that doesn’t mean that there is harm in improving just a little bit more.
