GRACE IN SPACE

Neutron stars are often cited as formidable foes when it comes to surviving in space. While they are relatively rare, the way that they form is incredibly terrifying.

 

Neutron stars are formed from a supernova, which you might have heard of before. A supernova is essentially a huge explosion that comes at the end of a giant star’s life. The star basically collapses in on itself because of how much mass is on it.

 

And no, our Sun will not “go supernova” because it isn’t massive enough to do so. In fact, a star would have to be about 10 times bigger than our Sun according to Space.com.

 

With that said, you can assume that neutron stars are rare and the more terrifying aspect is the ginormous explosion that takes place before their formation, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t dangerous. Then again, what isn’t dangerous in space?

 

Let me put this into perspective: if a neutron star were to enter the outer rings of our galaxy, according to Symmetry Magazine,
