Have you ever liked someone so much that you lowkey started acting like a private investigator? Like, maybe you found yourself scrolling through their Instagram posts or constantly checking their Snapchat.
If you’ve ever been that deep in your feelings, you are definitely going to relate to this new movie: Finding Emily. Even if you personally have never done this, I still think you should give this movie a shot. Even if you’ve never actually resorted to “stalking” someone in real life, we’ve all been in that same boat of being totally obsessed with a crush. I just watched the trailer, and honestly, it reeled me in so fast that I think it’ll do the exact same thing to you.
The movie is a romantic comedy, but it’s not one of those boring, slow ones. It’s set in Manchester and follows this musician named Owen (played by Spike Fearn). He meets this girl once, thinks she’s his soulmate, but then realizes she gave him the wrong phone number. Instead of just giving up, like a normal person, he goes on this total mission to find her. He even teams up with a psychology student named Sami (played by Angourie Rice) to help track her down. The trailer makes the whole thing look super “wonky” and chaotic, which is basically what high school feels like, anyway.
There is also a huge twist coming in the story. I don’t want to spoil anything, but even when things get a little bit crazy or “stalker-ish,” you can’t really stay mad at the characters. In the end, the movie shows that everything they’re doing is really just for love. Plus, Minnie Driver is in it, and the vibes are supposed to be really funny and frenzied.
Finding Emily is hitting theaters in the UK this May, and it’s coming to the US right after. We should all definitely go see it together when it drops. It looks like the perfect movie for anyone who’s ever been a little too obsessed with a crush or just likes a good, chaotic love story. Trust me, after you see the trailer, you’re going to be just as hooked as I am!
