We’re back in Ambridge for a new but old-fashioned sandwich shop! Philly Originals, welcome to Feast With Felicity!
Due to the inclement weather conditions at the time I visited this restaurant, I opted for takeout rather than dine-in. It’s not easy to park when 3-foot-tall snowbanks are blocking the side of the road. Nevertheless, I was able to get the full Philly Originals experience right in the comforts of my home. The food says it all!
As I sat under my mound of blankets on my bed and looked up the menu on my phone, I shot up in my seat when I finally found it.
Philadelphia Cheesesteak
Pizza Steak Hoagie
Chicken Cordon Bleu
Out of all of the heavenly creations on the menu, the Chicken Cordon Bleu jumped out at me the most. I knew I had to have this sandwich.
Along with the sandwich, I ordered mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce, and my family ordered fries with their sandwiches. When I went inside to pick up our order, I noticed that they had a full case of different kinds of soda, including the classic bottled cream sodas! I love the sweet, vanilla cream soda, so I decided to buy one to go with my meal.
When first opening the styrofoam container with my Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich inside, I wasn’t too impressed. I’ve only ever made Chicken Cordon Bleu once, but when I made it, I remember putting the chicken on the outside with the ham and cheese on the inside. Instead, they had cheese on the bottom, ham in the middle, and pieces of sliced, breaded chicken scrambled on top. Despite the presentation, though, this sandwich was amazing. The cheese was savory and mixed well with the salty ham and chicken. I added mayonnaise to add a tangy touch, and it was the best decision ever. Not to mention, the sandwich was humongous. I could only eat half before I tapped out.
The mozzarella sticks were like nothing I’ve ever tasted before. They weren’t stretchy but rather a bit rubbery on the inside. The outside breading, however, didn’t have a greasy, fried taste like most mozzarella sticks but rather a homemade loaf of bread flavor. I wasn’t opposed to the marinara sauce, but I also wasn’t in love with it. There was an almost raw tomato taste to it that wasn’t bad, just different. Overall, I’d eat these sticks again as they were filling but didn’t taste as heavy as classic mozzarella sticks.

My cream soda was perfection, but what was even better were Philly Original’s fries. These fried, golden, battered potatoes were everything I needed in my life. I don’t typically rave about french fries, but I would eat these any day. They were crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. In my opinion, these fries were so flavorful and salted to perfection that they didn’t even need dipping sauce to go with them.
I only tried a portion of the many treasures the Philly Originals’ menu has to offer. You can bet any money that I’ll be back for more from this quirky sandwich shop. The prices are high, but the food options and quality make up for it. Philly Originals, you impressed me, therefore you’ve earned an 8.5/10. Comment down below if you get to visit and what your favorite sandwich from their menu is!
