A couple days ago, I got inspired to make something just off my cravings, so I looked up some fun recipes on Lemon 8, an app that is basically TikTok mixed with Pinterest, if you don’t know about it. I usually use that to find recipes, but I found these lemon brownies that looked interesting.
I’m not gonna give you the recipe, because I don’t want you to make the same mistake I did by trying to bake these. But I will say, the lesson is to make sure you have some form of instructions to go off of. On Lemon 8, there was only ingredients, but no instructions. So, I had no choice but to freestyle and just mix everything together. When I tried mixing together the butter, eggs, and sugar, it started to become chunky because I didn’t know to melt the butter. Then, I forgot to add baking powder (Never forget to add baking powder). It basically all went wrong except for the glaze. The glaze was just lemon juice and powdered sugar. Personally, I didn’t want to make it too lemony, so I did half water and it turned out really good.
Anyways, when the lemon brownies came out, they were half raw, but the parts that were cooked were absolutely disgusting. My sister told me they tasted like playdough and pennies. This is probably the worst experience I’ve had with baking. I figured it would be a good lesson for any of you reading.
