Since I have always rated movies, let’s talk about a 10 on my sleep scale vs a 1.
First, a movie has to be entertaining. What I mean by entertaining is I want to constantly sit and be like, “Did that really just happen?” or “OMG!” A 10 has a big plot, and it has a whole bunch of twists and turns to the movie, rather it be someone dying, or falling in love with the killer, or someone getting cheated on.
I love a detailed movie with a lot of information that makes sense. You should know that a character has a purpose and that they’re not there as a filler. Personally, if I see a character with no purpose, I automatically think it’s boring and want to go to sleep. This means you lost me and my attention.
I, as a person, really enjoy suspense, and lately many movies have lost that aspect. Just like a book or an essay, it has to follow certain rules. It has to have that suspense part. I feel like, without the suspense/rising action, the movie just gives you the whole story. While I said I love information and details, I want to gradually get it. It should never all be thrown in my face at once. If I wanted to, I would watch a YouTube video on it or look it all up on the internet.

Now, I know I said I love suspense, but there is a thing called too much suspense. A movie can also become bad when there is a little too much suspense. It often makes the movie way longer, and it gets boring because the idea is just being dragged out for no actual reason. We don’t want that to happen.
So there you have it. A 10 is a movie that has the right amount of suspense, keeps us entertained, has characters for an actual reason, and doesn’t just add random people. A one is a plotless movie or something that just jumbles all of its ideas. You can’t follow along with it, and it has useless characters.
How about you? What do you think a 10 on the sleep scale is vs. a one? Leave a comment below.
