In a world where reality TV fame comes and goes as quickly as sounds on TikTok, Olandria has managed to do what few Love Island alums ever do—become more than a contestant. She’s become what I would call a brand.
When she first appeared on Love Island, viewers saw more than just a pretty face or a storyline with Taylor. They saw how Olandria carried a calming and authentic demeanor that translated across the screen. Her confidence wasn’t loud; her look was never forced; and her energy never came across as performative. She was simply herself, and that authenticity became her most marketable trait.
Since leaving the villa, Olandria’s rise to fame has been anything but accidental. Behind her is a team that understands the modern celebrity, and they’re leveraging her abilities to the max. Every brand partnership she does feels aligned because it feels as if it’s a reflection of a narrative she’s trying: a Black superstar on the rise. To me, with her and this team, we have seen the peak of refinement and superstardom.
Yet, what makes her story so special is that, to get where she is today, she had to navigate national visibility as a Black woman in a space that hasn’t always been welcoming. Reality TV has a long history of sidelining or misrepresenting Black women. That could be because of a multitude of reasons, but it all boils down to racism. However, Olandria shifted the lens in her favor. Instead of letting the hate define her, she has persisted in spite of it and made it one of her goals to give back to the places and institutions that poured into her.
And to use this as the staple to show others what lead to follow deserves an applause. Her and the team behind her have cultivated a public figure that’s rooted in relatability. So many Black women out there see Olandria as a role model or someone to look up too, but she also reaches beyond that, and that’s why she’ll have longevity in the game. In an influencer world where everything can feel like a gimmick, it’s important to have ones like this.
There’s something revolutionary about it to me. Olandria is more than a reality star—she is the blueprint for how to turn fifteen minutes of fame into a firm foundation. And maybe that’s the real lesson here: to be yourself and let everything after flow naturally with time.
