It’s that time of year where we pack away all of our tank tops (or just throw them into the back of the closet) and make room for the cold-weather essentials. You don’t want to be unprepared for the chilly season, so head into it with my list of winter items you must have.
BOOTS
Boots are a definite must have for the winter, even if we haven’t been getting tons of snow for the past couple years. There are many types of boots you can go for. The options are literally limitless. I personally like the classic combat boots or Chelsea boots. Some type of waterproof boots for the snow is a must have, although Ugg’s are popular now-a-days
GLOVES
What I’ve come to realize is that my hands and fingers get the coldest in the winter, and when your hands are cold, it’s absolutely the worst thing ever, especially when you need to be doing things. Depending on the situation, a nice pair of leather gloves or any waterproof ones with fur insides goes a long way. Plus, leather gloves go with almost any outfit.
A NEUTRAL COLOR SCARF
Scarves are the ultimate accessory. They provide warmth and can be used as a statement piece. You don’t need to collect 15 different colored and patterned scarfs, just having at least one neutral color goes a long way. Personally, I’d opt for a classic white or brown scarf.
CASHMERE SWEATER
Now, what more needs to be said about the classic cashmere sweater? Almost everyone has one, and if you don’t, you better get one soon. It’s a soft and comfortable material to keep you from freezing, and with the proper care, it can last basically decades. I am the biggest fan of sweaters. I’d probably die without them.
THE LAYERING JACKET
Listen, I know layering too many things can become hepatic, but you need to invest in a layering jacket. This is basically just a thick jacket you layer over your outfits (sometimes even another jacket). I’d make sure you pick one with lots of room because, typically, you’ll wear long sleeves underneath.
These were just a few of the essential things to have for the winter season. All you need to really have in your wardrobe is something to keep you warm and protect you from the devilish winds. Stay comfortable and stylish this winter.
