There are multiple factors to consider when looking at the quality of clothing. Many people nowadays focus on prices, which makes sense. Even I fall into this trap, but the price of something isn’t always worth it if the quality of clothing isn’t good. Not all elements need to make or break your decision, but it’s beneficial to be able to identify the quality of clothing.
Material is one factor to consider. Some companies use specific fabrics or adhesives in their clothing. Check the consistency and texture of it. Is it the same throughout? Does it feel cheap? Some clothing just doesn’t feel right. High quality clothing oftentimes uses natural fibers that give the clothing a lot of good qualities. What is it made of? Cotton, wool, silk?
Another thing to keep an eye out for is the construction. Look at the seams, stitching, and lining. Make sure the stitching looks neat and even. Does it look poorly made? Is it sloppy? Some clothing may have loose threads and broken stitching. Pay attention to the small details. They’ll go a long way.
Just the company names can tell you a lot about the quality. Some companies just use cheap material. SHEIN is one of these places, but that doesn’t mean I’ve never worn a single clothing item from them. However, it’s always nice to be able to identify these things. Some companies that are criticized for cheap material is:
- SHEIN
- Forever 21
- Zara
- H&M
It’s always good to double check the quality of clothing. Whether it’s the feeling of it, the durability, material, etc, if you are able to identify clothing quality, it will benefit you in many ways.
