Personally, I don’t like hardback books. They often have the weird paper covers I have to take off before reading. It might just be me, but every time I try to read the book without taking the extra cover off, I’m more focused on keeping the cover on than reading.
After talking to multiple people about their opinions, I’m going to summarize the pros and cons of paper and hardback books.
First, I’ll talk about paperbacks. Some pros are that they’re usually a lot cheaper. If you’re reading on a budget, the best option for you would be to buy primarily paperback books to save money. Also, they’re easier to hold, and they usually take up less space than a hardback. Some cons are that they can tear if you are holding them in your backpack. The paperback covers are a lot more susceptible to creases, tears, and stains.
Now, as for hardback books, some pros are that they will last a lot longer. Also, if you have your book in your backpack for school, it’s a lot less likely to get damaged, unlike the paperback books. Cons, like I said earlier, are that trying to tame the odd paper covers over the books can get rather annoying. Also, they are a lot larger, so they take up more space on bookshelves.
All together, I still stand by my paperbacks as they’re easier to read and hold. But whether it’s paperback or hardback, you should still be reading!
