RITUALS

WITCHY WEDNESDAY

October 4, 2020

Everyone has their own ritual, whether it be personal or religious. Some people go to church every Sunday or have tea right before bed. Witches have rituals, too. These rituals usually coincide with holidays but can go along with standalone spells.

To perform a ritual, you would first cleanse your house, cast your circle, perform the ritual itself, and close the circle. I can’t tell you exactly what rituals are, since there are so many of them, but I can give you some examples of why you would do a ritual.

Events that require rituals:

  • Sabbats- Wiccan/Pagan holidays (Mabon, Samhain, Yule, Imbolc, Ostara, Beltane, Litha, Midsummer, Lammas)
  • Coven initiation- when a new witch is entering a coven
  • Newborn blessings- blessing a newborn child
  • Regular blessings- giving someone luck, fortune, love, etc.
  • Hexing/cursing- casting bad luck on someone
  • Breaking hexes- removing bad luck one has placed upon you
  • Marriage- blessing two witches coming together in marriage
  • Protection charms- placing protection over a loved one
  • New moon-new beginnings, new desires, new intentions, new goals
  • Full moon- intuition, psychic abilities, creativity, femininity, love, success

I could go on forever when talking about rituals, simply because they can be done for anything. If you are interested in learning more about rituals and sabbats, tune in next week! I will be talking about the wheel of the year and rituals that go along with these sabbats.

See you soon, blessed be!
