Terrifier 3 is in theaters, and supposedly people are vomiting because of its vulgar content. The Terrifier movies have never shied away from gore, but the third movie has taken it to the next level. However, some people claim this is all being overdramatized.
The opening scene sets the stage for what the movie will have in store by displaying the brutal murder of a child. This scene raised controversy, and many are upset with the creator of Terrifier for including it. Later on in the movie, Art kills even more children. It goes to show that Art the Clown will kill anyone, allowing him to stand out as creepier.
To vaguely sum up the “plot” so nothing is spoiled, the movie continues to follow Sienna and Jonathan, the protagonists of the previous movie. Sienna is dealing with severe PTSD, and Jonathan attempts to move on from the traumatic events of the last movie. Also, I want to mention that people are upset because there are more scenes following Sienna and Jonathan’s cousin rather than giving Jonathan more screen time. While this is all going on, Art is dressed up as Santa and continuing his heinous crime streak with Vicky.
Compared to the first two movies, the budget is noticeably higher. The acting is still a bit iffy, but it isn’t too horrible. I’d 100% choose this movie over the first two because of its better performance. Although, in contrast to the second movie, the plot isn’t as strong.
The extremity of the gore in this movie is next level compared to the first two, and they did a good job at making it realistic. It’s full of comedy, and it’s definitely the kind of movie to at least get a giggle out of you. The plot continues to remain unoriginal, but I’ll admit, this movie actually wasn’t too boring. My main problem is the fact that the special effects in the ending looked like a goofy Snapchat filter, but it made it funnier, so I’ll let it slide.
This movie is definitely a build up to what’s coming next, and the viewers are left on a major cliffhanger at the end. It’s obvious there will most likely be a fourth movie. I recommend sitting this one out if you have a weak stomach.
