Typically, it never ends well when a singer decides to create a movie. However, Rob Zombie pushed the limits and created the iconic Firefly Trilogy. There’s no such thing as talking about horror families without mentioning the barbarous Firefly family.
All three movies are based on a deranged family that murders people. The visuals are amazing and unique to Rob Zombie’s taste. A lot was inspired by the movies The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes.
The first movie in the trilogy, House of 1000 Corpses, is a cult classic. It’s the first movie that Rob Zombie directed, and it’s credited as his best. Its eye-catching visuals include gaudy maximalist designs that allow it to stand out from other horror movies. It’s one of those films that are meant to look cheap and gory. It has just the right amount of campy to it, and it excelled at creating a spooky atmosphere.
The next two movies in the trilogy are The Devil’s Rejects and 3 From Hell. They aren’t nearly as popular as the first movie, and they both have more negative reviews. Both movies continue following the Firefly family and their heinous crimes. Although, a lot of fans say that the two movies destroyed the first movie as a whole because the vibes were completely different. House of 1000 Corpses had this colorful 70s horror vibe going on, but the other two movies were a lot more dull.
Either way, love them or hate them, you can’t deny that the trilogy continues to draw in viewers. House of 1000 Corpses is a modern horror classic, and its design and characters stay prominent within the horror community.
I highly recommend at least giving House of 1000 Corpses a try. It feels like a prolonged music video but in a good way. It’s one of those movies where you can’t decide whether you hate it or love it when you first watch it. Honestly, it can be a bit raunchy, but if you want a good balance of horror and thriller, take a stab at it (pun intended). I especially recommend you check it out if you’re a Rob Zombie fan.
