Many horror fans across the globe are familiar with the Terrifier movies. The franchise’s most notable character is “Art the Clown.” There are currently two movies, and the third comes out on October 11. Now, does this franchise need a third movie? Many say that it should at least be the last.
The first two movies keep a consistent theme of a clown (whether he’s supernatural or immortal) who brutally murders people. There doesn’t seem to be a motive behind his actions, and the clown always comes back, no matter what happens to him.
I have to mention that these movies definitely aren’t for a weak stomach. It feels like the whole point of the movie is just to be as gory as possible. In the second movie, there’s at least a bit of plot or a point to things, but it’s nothing that hasn’t been done a million times before. However, I will give it some credit: the second movie was a huge improvement from the first. The budget, acting, and making everything more realistic was a success.
In the trailer for Terrifier 3, it looks like it’ll be just as gory as the first two movies. It’s already being slammed online for having a controversial scene. In the trailer, there looks to be a scene of the murder of a child. Personally, I don’t think it’s much of a problem, especially because plenty of other horror movies have included such things before. Some even point out that Art has already killed kids before, so this is nothing new. Regardless, people are still upset, and bash anyone that wants to watch it.
Horror fans point out that movies like Terrifier don’t have much value to them as they seem to be created for the sole purpose of being extreme. I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing, but I’d prefer something with more substance. So, fair warning: if you’re expecting to watch something with an intricate plot, you will be let down.
On a positive note, reviews say that this movie will not let down when it comes to a mix of comedy and horror. The kill count will be higher, and the lore will be expanded. If you’re looking for a film to watch that contains lots of blood, this movie is for you.
