ALEC BALDWIN CONTROVERSY
JUDGE JADE
February 23, 2023
On the set of the movie Rust actor Alec Baldwin shot photography director Halyna Hutchins and director and writer Joel Souza with what was supposed to be a prop gun.
Baldwin commented on the situation: “We were a very, very well-oiled crew shooting a film together and then this horrible event happened,” BBC NEWS reported. That was back in the fall of 2021.
Currently, Baldwin is charged with two accounts of involuntary manslaughter. Hannah Gutierrez-Reed is also charged since she was responsible for setting the guns out. However, her attorney said that she was under a lot of pressure on set.
Baldwin was alleged to be “distracted” during gun training and showed “reckless deviation” from standard safety protocols on set. “He has maintained he did not pull the trigger despite the FBI forensic report finding that the gun couldn’t fire without the trigger being pulled,” Suzy Byrne, from Yahoo.com wrote.
As of right now, Baldwin and Reed are looking at facing 18 months in prison, but “Now word’s come in that Baldwin may face an extra five years in prison due to a new law that’s been passed as this shooting case progresses,” Yahoo.com writer Adam Holmes recorded.
This piece of legislation was enacted in May of 2022 in the state of New Mexico. If the Judge applies this law, Baldwin and Reed would face a longer sentencing.
The next court appearance will be Feb. 24 of this year.
