BIG SCHOOLS TO VISIT LP BOYS’ BASKETBALL TEAM

SPORTS WITH FLORENCE

March 21, 2023

Over the past few months, the Lincoln Park boys’ basketball practices have had a few very special guests come to get an up-close look at Meleek Thomas, a five-star recruit and ESPN ranked top 10 player in the country in the class of 2025. One coach, University of Kentucky men’s basketball head coach John Calipari, came and was pleasantly surprised by the talent on this young team.

“He came initially for Meleek, but was very surprised by Brandin,” said Mike Bariski, the Leopards’ head coach and Lincoln Park athletic director. Brandin Cummings is a three-star 6’3 combo guard in the class of 2024. He had a breakout year towards the end of his freshman year, and truly shined throughout his entire sophomore year.

Coach Cal is planning on returning to watch them again in the near future. “He loved them, he really did,” said Coach B. Not only has Kentucky come to watch these boys, but also University of Pittsburgh, Duquesne, VCU, Marquette, and Akron have come. Along with those who have visited, there are more such as Duke, Alabama, Missouri, and Indiana who have all scheduled to come and watch.

In the coming months, hopefully more schools will come out to see our LP boys’ basketball team.
