READING SLUMP? READ THIS!

May 31, 2022

Have you ever been in such a reading slump that you can’t even pick up a book to read the title? Well I can give you some that helped me get out of my reading slump.

    1. Sophie Quire and the Last Storyguard by Jonathan Auxire which is the sequel to Peter Nimble and His Fantastic Eyes. This story follows 12-year-old bookmender Sophie Quire. Sophie knows very little about life beyond her father’s bookshop. When a strange boy and talking cat/horse companion show up with a rare and mysterious book, needing her help. She finds herself pulled into an adventure beyond anything she could imagine and read.
    2. Book Lovers by Emily Henry is a novel following Nora Stephens navigating her job and her currently failing love life. Her life is books and she makes sure everyone knows that her job comes first. She’s a cut throat literary agent but really is only soft for her little sister Libby who convinces her to go on a month long trip to Sunshine Falls, North Carolina. Libby has all these visions for her big sister, to find love while they are there.
    3. Solitaire by Alice Oseman is a YA contemporary novel following Victoria Spring discovering there is more to life than university applications and growing up. She meets Micheal Holden which changes her aspect of life entirely.

These books honestly are honestly in my opinion the best books to read if you are in a reading slump, especially the first two; they really got me back into reading and it is easier to read younger age range books to get you out of the reading slump. A friend told me to do this and I did and it really helped. I rate all of these books a five out of five, which I do a lot but I genuinely enjoy all the books I have reviewed on this column.
