NOSTALGIC EDITION: MUSIC OF SUMMER 2011
MEG'S PLAYLIST
May 24, 2021
Welcome back! Today, we are going back to Summer 2011! This is a nostalgic edition to Meg’s Playlist and I’m going to talk about why Summer of 2011 had the best songs, the best vibes, and was an important part of all of our childhoods.
In 2011, songs that we all know and love dropped. One Direction was still a thing, Gym Class Heroes were booming still, and Maroon 5 was actually relevent (for the most part) and I’m going to give you three reasons why Summer of 2011 was the start of good vibes, Summer nights, and the beginning of songs that are now memories for all of us.
1. THE MUSIC WAS GOLDEN
I don’t care what anyone says, but at the age of ten, the songs that dropped were probably really inappropriate for me and many others, but we still listened and I think some of those songs helped raise us. Music is an important part of anyone’s life, and 2011 had all the “bops.”
They dropped songs like “Rude” by Magic!, “Best Song Ever” by One Direction, and we can’t forget “Super Bass” by Nicki Minaj. All these songs are huge parts of that summer.
2. SUMMER 2011 AS A KID WAS WAY MORE FUN
Now, I can’t speak for older generations, but for mine, I feel like everyone had the best Summer that year and let’s be honest — it was way more fun being a kid as well. The music scene was a lot more fun too. Songs had more soul and passion to them. The artists were more into their music. Everything was a lot more fun as a kid in 2011.
3. THE VIBES WERE RAW AND PURE
As we’ve gotten older, I feel like the vibes aren’t the same as they used to be. They were more real and pure when we were little. All we cared about was music, swimming, and being a kid. That’s why I think the songs of 2011 were just the best. They stuck to us even as we grew.
2011 was just a prime time for music and for learning that music in the Summer time makes everything a little better.
Now, I know that other years were great too, but 2011 is one to be reckoned with.
I hope you enjoyed and see you later!
