*TRIGGER WARNING: DRUG ABUSE/OVERDOSE/ EATING DISORDER*

Welcome back! Today, I’m going to be reviewing Demi Lovato’s newest album, Dancing With The Devil, The Art Of Starting Over.

I’m really excited to tell you guys my thoughts on it because I will say, I was a little nervous at first to listen to the album because drug abuse, the topic of overdose, and the topic of eating disorders is a very touchy subject for me and I know many others as well, but I feel like the album is review worthy.

The album has 19 songs and is 57 minutes long.

I found out about the album when she dropped her short YouTube series “Dancing With The Devil.” She released the album a few weeks after.

As I said, I was quite hesitant at first because as someone who has first hand witnessed a family member’s struggle with drug abuse, the topic is triggering for me. She also talks about her ongoing struggle with eating disorders, but I pushed my personal feelings aside and listened to the album.

I’m going to be honest, when I first listened to it, I fell in love with it. The way she created this safe space for people recovering is beautiful to me.

She talks about real life events and struggles that she has dealt with, and still is dealing with. The album carries a lot of emotion about healing, drug abuse, eating disorders, and the “art of starting over.”

As someone who has seen and understands drug abuse, recovered from eating disorders multiple times, and is in the process of healing, the album makes me feel seen. I haven’t listened to an album that openly talks about these topics and the album has a lot of really good songs as well.

That’s all I have for you today! See you on the next Meg’s Playlist.
