TIKTOK RUINS GOOD MUSIC

MEG’S PLAYLIST

February 22, 2021

Welcome back to another edition of Meg’s Playlist! Today, I’m going to talk about something that in my opinion, needs talked about. Of course, we all know and love the music and short video making platform, TikTok.

I personally love watching the 60 seconds videos of comedy, fashion, advice, and so much more, but I must say that I’ve come to a point of irritation with the app for many reasons. Now, they have been accused of taking down videos of plus sized, black, and non white creators for just enjoying the app and this has made me extremely angry over the time it has been an app, but that’s not what this article is about today.

The topic of discussion with TikTok today is about how they keep ruining good music by spamming it on the app and making it become cringe-worthy. The app does however, blow music up that deserves praise and respect and I have found some really good songs on the app. However, songs that have been popular for years or even just a year or two are being blown up again and the cringe-side of the app are getting ahold of them and making them bad.

When I mean they are making it bad, they are taking songs that we either have grown up with or songs that are really good songs and doing weird stuff over the sound or just making me hate the song. TikTok is a great place to open up to the world and show your creative side, but as I said before, it has it’s cringe side of things. I’ve seen things on the app that I didn’t think were possible to even see.

The app is an awesome and different way to show off  your song and even making it popular, but they also blow up songs that are just down-right awful. No hate towards the creators of the songs, but the app can make certain songs, trends, and even people famous and it can be quite questionable.

I’ve seen creators on the app with only 1,000 followers who have songs or talents that should be praised, but creators who only lip sinc songs with one million followers have all the praise. It doesn’t make sense to me.

Anyways, as said, the app has its good qualities and it has its bad qualities as well, but the music scene with the app has its ups and downs too.

That’s all I have for you today! Let’s jam to some music on the next Meg’s Playlist.
