THE WRECKS: A REVIEW ON THEIR NEW EP
MEG'S PLAYLIST
January 8, 2021
Welcome back! I hope you guys had a wonderful Winter break and enjoyed Christmas and the New Year. I’m so excited for today’s review on Static, The Wreck’s newest EP. The EP is quite shorter than previous EPs they have dropped, but by far, this is my favorite. They have proven that they can create different vibes in each song. It is 13 minutes long and includes four songs: Static, I hope it’s cold in New York, Good for Nothing, and Try to Remember.
Let’s get into the review!
The Wrecks is a newer band that started to rise to fame around 2018, but they have been around since 2015. They’ve dropped one album and two EPs. I love their music and their sound. They are usually more of an alternative sound, but they went for more of a pop sound for this EP.
I don’t really like when alternative or rock bands go to pop sounds, but I actually liked how they took each song and made it feel like you were in the middle of Winter during a heartbreak. They based a lot of their songs in New York City and it gave the album a “Winter in the city” vibe, and if there is anything you should know about me, It’s that I love the Winter in the city vibe! I’ve always thought they were different from most alternative bands because they are real with their music. They don’t sugar coat anything and I like that.
This EP truly opened up new doors for them when it comes to opportunities in the music scene. I can tell they put their heart and soul into this EP. I love the whole entire EP and I don’t really have a favorite song. I like them all. I wish they added more songs to it because I feel like it was way too short. They could have added more songs to show their uniqueness with their music, but I’m assuming it was a personally choice to only drop four songs.
I give the EP nine out of ten. I’m taking one point off from them because they should have added more songs, but as said, I love each song and it is worth the listen. It puts you in a good mood. That’s all I have for you guys today. I hope you give them a listen and tell me what you think!
Let’s jam to some music on the next Meg’s Playlist.
