THE SECRETS OF SUNSCREEN
HEALTH IS WHAT I'M ABOUT
November 24, 2020
I know it may seem like a common fact to wear sunscreen, but this isn’t just a summer time demand – it’s an all year plan! Trust me. It will save your skin in the end.
Let’s fact check real quick: many seem to assume that sunburn, skin cancer, and dermatology issues can’t effect certain races. That is false information! The John Cancer Center, who wrote an article for Unity Point Health, stated, “…[S]un damage occurs over a lifetime. Although skin cancer is more prevalent in people with lighter skin, it does not discriminate and can still affect those with darker skin.”
I personally dealt with a skin problem no earlier than last year. Long story short, I had to get a Spitz mole removed that later down the line could have been cancerous, even though I make a conscious effort to use protectors like sunscreen. So, don’t be fooled. I am biracial (African American and White) and the sun still affected me.
Believe it or not, the sun is present for all seasons of the year – not just Summer. Plus, global warming makes sunscreen even more of a need. “As the ozone layer depletes, your body needs added protection from these harmful rays.” Unity Point Health and John Cancer Center said.
Even if you don’t care for science, maybe you care about your appearance? John Cancer Center and Unity Point Heath, state again, “Did you know the number-one cause of premature aging of the face is ultraviolet exposure? By wearing sunscreen, you are slowing down the development of wrinkles and leathery skin.” Listen, I for one can be a vain one, but this is a cheap way to save on some unnecessary plastic surgery someday.
Now, let’s talk about the best type of sunblock. In my opinion, I learned that Korea has the best skin care technology. The one I use for my face is called Purito. It’s an unscented moisturizer with SPF50 and if you are someone with darker, or tan skin, it does not make your face look like white chalk, it blends natural (I learned about this skin product from watching Hyram, who is a well-known skincare YouTuber).
But, if you want to explore other Korean sunscreens, here is an exploring link.
Look: take care of your outside health. It matters just as much as eating clean!
